What happens if I have to cancel?

If the cancellation is made more than three months before the date of arrival, a cancellation fee of 50€ will be charged.

If the cancellation is made between 3 months and 6 weeks before the date of arrival, the 30% deposit will be retained.

If the cancellation is made between six and two weeks before the date of arrival, 50% of the rental amount will be due.

If the cancellation is made less than two weeks before the date of arrival, the full amount of the rental will be due.

 

Whatever the reasons for cancellation, the Phare de Kerbel must be notified in writing (registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or e-mail), the date of receipt of this notice determining the rate to be applied. Any tenant who has not notified the owner will be required to pay the full amount of the rental.

Can I smoke?

For reasons of safety and hygiene, smoking is not permitted inside the Kerbel Lighthouse buildings. However, it is possible to smoke in the outdoor areas, including on the lighthouse balcony. However, in order to respect the lighthouse cleaning staff as well as the neighbours, you are asked to extinguish and dispose of your cigarette butts in a rubbish bin and not to throw them from the top of the lighthouse.

Can I use the pool/sauna?

Yes, being the only ones on the property, you even have exclusive use of it. The sauna is open all year round. The swimming pool is open and heated from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Does the Kerbel Lighthouse have WiFi?

No, unfortunately or fortunately, living on top of a 25-metre lighthouse sometimes presents insurmountable constraints.

Can I block out the glass in the canopy at the top of the lighthouse?

Yes, each window is equipped with a blackout blind.

Do I need to tell anyone about my arrival time?

Yes, you must inform Mrs Muin, the lighthouse housekeeper (+33 6 82 01 84 39), so that she can come and welcome you and show you around.

Will my vehicle be parked on the public highway?

No, the Kerbel lighthouse property has 3 private parking spaces.

 

Can I bring my dog?

No, we are sorry but our animal friends are not allowed on the property.

Do I need to bring my own bed linen / towels?

No, you will find the necessary bed linen and towels at the top of the lighthouse.

Where to dine during my stay at the lighthouse?

You can either go back down to the lighthouse for dinner or you can stay on top of the lighthouse for dinner. You can cook in the kitchenette. All details are available on our 'What to do around' page!

What is the equipment in the kitchenette on top of the lighthouse?

The kitchenette at the top of the lighthouse is equipped with a small refrigerator, two hotplates, a microwave, some cooking utensils (pots, pans, etc.), crockery and cutlery.

If I come by train, what is my destination city?

The nearest destination town to the Kerbel lighthouse is Lorient. You will then need to either rent a car (30min drive) or use public transport. Find more information on our practical information page.

Will I find a socket to charge my electric vehicle?

Yes, there is an external power socket to charge your vehicle from its parking space.

Is my breakfast provided?

Le Phare de Kerbel wants to give you the opportunity to experience the world as a couple. Therefore, once you have settled in, we will leave you alone in the world until the end of your stay. However, to welcome you, you will find breakfast at the top of the lighthouse for the next morning.

Is there a lift to the top of the lighthouse?

No, the charm of the lighthouse lies in the fact that you have to climb the 126 steps leading to the top of the lighthouse as the old keepers did.
