An exceptional place.

"This landscape has been familiar to me for 47 years and in all kinds of weather, in storms, in thunderstorms, in fact in all the weather you can see from 30 metres up, and at all hours of the night and day. When there was snow, it was magical to see all of Port-Louis and Gâvres covered in snow. I would sometimes spend an hour on the stairs despite the intense cold just to enjoy the snowy landscape..."

Throughout her life, Honorine Le Guen, France's first female lighthouse keeper, looked after the Kerbel Lighthouse daily to guide sailors entering Lorient harbour. Today, although improvements in navigation systems have made it obsolete, the Kerbel Lighthouse, always a pioneer, has been transformed into the only lighthouse in France habitable at the top, offering each of us the possibility of following in Honorine's footsteps...

THE LIGHTHOUSE

The keeper's houseThe keeper's house bears its name because it was the home of the keeper from 1913, when the Kerbel lighthouse was inaugurated, to 1989, when its lantern was extinguished. It has now been completely refurbished to provide you with the best possible service.

The oil roomIn the past, it was used to store the oil needed for the Kerbel lighthouse lantern, before it was electrified in 1932. Today, transformed into an outbuilding, it is no longer oil that we come to collect, but water.

The Oil Room

Formerly used for storage, it housed the oil powering the lantern of the Kerbel lighthouse, before its electrification in 1932. Today, transformed into an outbuilding, it is no longer oil that you will come to look for, but rather the comfort of a peaceful night at the foot of the lighthouse.
